Man oh man,

Bought a new computer, state of the art.  Definitely better than my old laptop.

 Runs on XP pro just like laptop.  Installed Simply 2008 premium.  Tranfered data from laptop to PC.

 Impossible to open database.  Always get message: "The database engine timed out while serving the connection.  please wait a moment and try again"

 I read all that I could on the online knowledgebase, fiddled with firewall and exception lists.

I'm just about ready to throw it all through the window - the REAL one...

If anyone knows anything about this, let me know quick - I have a accounting to do...

same problem here

Had the same problem, went to start->control panel->add remove programs selected Change for simply accounting 2008, on the menu select restore/update, have your disk ready as you will need it. Simply will reinstall, then you will have to update again.  Works fine for me now.
