    Repair file problem: System.EnterpriseServices.Wrapper.dll missing

One of my program drives crashed so I had to reload all the missing programs - including SA - on to a new drive but when it came time to restore the accounting files SA failed to restore any backup; SA program simply stops and exits. Using SA2008 Premium.

When I used the repair facility of SA to verify files - the "Company File Check & Repair" app - the repair/verify function stopped about half way through saying that the  "SystemEnterpriseServicesWrapper.dll" was missing or it couldn't find file. All backup files and copies of company files easily located within browse function of SA.

I've searched files, including system files, for  "System.EnterpriseServices.Wrapper.dll" and "SystemEnterpriseServicesWrapper.dll" with no success. The dll simply doesn't exist.

Running WinXP, all patches and updates installed. I've tried opening accounting files from within SA but program just closes and exists.

Anyone else had a similar problem restoring/repairing/verifiying and that .dll error message?

    Hello punzhu,

Wow!  You have a lot going on here.  Let's start at the top...

Does your sample company open?  If it does, try moving your backups to your C drive to open.  Do they open from there?

Did you configure any firewalls or antivirus before trying to install Simply Accounting?  If not, do that now and reinstall the program.  (You may want to try reinstalling in safe mode.)  If the problem persists you may have a .Net issue but I would look at firewalls first.  If after configuring your firewall you are still unable to open the sample company take a look at Microsoft .Net Framework.  Either try running the clean-up tool from MS or remove .Net 2.0 and reinstall Simply Accounting.  Always try and open the sample first before your data base.  If the sample opens the issue is either with the file you are trying to open or the location / drive you are trying to open the file on.

These type of test, although tedious, helps us determine if the issue is with the database or the installation or rights in the environment.

    Good luckBig Smile

     Hi Kim,

Firewall/antivirus programs the same as before hard disks crashed as these were on my C drive which didn't crash. SA originally installed with firewall/antivirus programs running and had zero problems until drives crashed.

Have reinstalled SA (and reregistered) and reinstalled Microsoft.net but cannot open sample file, or any other file, as SA provides the following error: "Simply Accounting cannot open the database because some database files are read-only. Please ensure you have sufficient rights to the files, then try again."

From your message above I suspect the problem is with rights environment.

Thanks Kim. Sorry for the delay in replying but I've been busy replacing data on new drives.

Read Only messages are rights errors generally and have to do with incorrect configurations or a .Net issue.

I'm going to be honest with you and say (albeit rather blindly here on the forum) that this is a .Net issue still.  The reason I suspect this is because you are getting the Read Only error on the sample company.  If it was a rights issue, you would have received a Feature Transfer Error during install indicating you don't have sufficient rights to your C:\Documents and Settings\ All Users\Shared Documents and the sample wouldn't be able to install there.

It's a rather difficult issue to troubleshoot over the forum but there is a new Read Only knowledge base article which may shed some light for you.

     Hi Kim,

Problem solved and it was with Microsoft net.  I followed your suggestion for removing SA and .net ( the link you provided here) and reinstalled SA. Still can't open old backup so will simply (pardon the pun) input account information manually into a new company.

Thanks to everyone. Happy to have program running properly again.

Awesome!  I'm happy to hear you have the software up and running.

Contact me off the forum if you like and I may be able to help with the backup also if you have time.  If it's a conversion issue I may be able to help.

Have you tried Winzip to extract the files from the cab file?

Double-click on it in Windows Explorer to see if you can open the cab file and see the files inside.
