Question: The software is asking me for a User ID and password and I have not created one.

Answer:
The .sdw file has not been copied into the same folder as the .sdb file.
The following two files are required to open a Simply Accounting data file:
- filename.sdb
- filename.sdw
If you do not copy the filename.sdw file (which contains the security information) Simply Accounting will ask you for a User Name and Password.
Solution:
Copy both the filename.sdb and filename.sdw files to the same folder on your computer. Be sure that the read-only option is turned off for each of the files. To do this, follow the instructions in the solution below.

Question: After I select a data file, I receive a message indicating that I do not have sufficient Rights to the file and/or directory.
Answer:
You cannot open the Simply Accounting data file because the read only property is on either the filename.sdb and/or the filename.sdw.
Solution:
In Windows Explorer, highlight the filename.sdb file that you are trying to open in Simply Accounting. Right click the right mouse button and select Properties. In the bottom of the window, you will see the following information:

Click in the box beside the Read-only property to turn this option off. The window should now be displayed as follows:

Click OK to save the changes.
